2008 Promise of Nursing scholarships

Scholarship Opportunity
HRSA has just posted the application for the FY 2007 nursing scholarship. Through this program, nursing school students can receive scholarships to pay for their tuition and fees, as well as a $1,200/ month stipend. Upon graduation, these nurses must work full-time in a facility deemed to have a critical shortage of nurses - for at least 2 years (some will have a longer service commitment.

ATTENTION:
ALL UNDERGRADUATE NURSING STUDENTS OR RN’S INTERESTED IN NURSING EDUCATION

If you are in need of financial assistance to support your education, then we’ve got great news for you!  Scholarship applications are now available for undergraduate nursing students and for registered nurses wishing to pursue a career in nursing education.

Undergraduate Nursing Students:
Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.  Completed applications must be received by Friday, January 11, 2008.  Students are strongly encouraged to apply early!  Winners will be notified in March 2008.  Only winners will be notified.  Additionally scholarship sponsors and recipients will be recognized at the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) Annual Convention, Grapevine, Texas.

Graduate Nursing Education Students:
Applicants must document their commitment to the nurse educator role.  Awards range from $1,000 to $7,500.  Completed applications must be received by Friday,

March 7, 2008.  Winners will be notified in May.

Graduate Nursing Loan-Forgiveness Program
The Graduate Nursing Loan-Forgiveness Program is designed to encourage Tennessee residents who are nurses to become teachers and administrators in Tennessee nursing education programs. Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible master’s degree or a post master’s degree in a nursing educational program at an eligible institution. Awards are based on funding.

Participants in this program incur an obligation to enter a faculty or administrative position in a nursing education program, in Tennessee, immediately upon completion of the education program.  See http://www.collegepaystn.com/mon_college/nurse_lf.html for more information.

NEW MASTER’S ENTRY STUDENT (MES) INFORMATION!!

Starting in Fall of 2008 an interview will be required as part of the MES admission process. The tentative date for MES interviews is November 14, 2008 (Friday)

The deadline for MES applications is October 1 for the following summer (e.g., October 1, 2008 for summer 2009).
