The College of Nursing’s Office of Research is headed by Ken Phillips, PhD, RN, Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Evaluation, and staffed by Janet Benson, Program Resource Specialist. The Office of Research strives to create a milieu that supports faculty and student scholarship. The Office of Research provides support of the scholarly work of the faculty and students in the following ways:
Services
- Internal review of manuscripts
- Internal review of grant proposals
- Arranging for and financing external peer review of proposals
- Locating potential funding sources
- Budget preparation and management
- Liaison with the University of Tennessee Research Office
- Grant formatting
- Electronic submission of grant proposals to funding agencies
- Mailing grant proposals to funding agencies
- Preparation of posters and slides for scholarly presentations
- Consultation for Human Subjects Review by the Institutional Review Board
- Obtaining needed support letters for grant proposals
- Mentoring faculty members as necessary
- Statistical consultation is provided by the University
The research facilities at the College of Nursing include the Office of Research and the Research Center, which are located on the third floor of the College of Nursing. The Research Center is a well-equipped environment for use by the College’s faculty and graduate students.
