International

Take an Intercollegiate Trip to Panama & Earn One Clinical Credit
Who: Community Health Nursing students from:

  • UT Knoxville (8 students) and 
  • UT Chatanooga (8 students) will visit 
  • Nursing students from the University of Panama

What: An exciting opportunity to learn about the Panamanian health care system meet Panamanian nursing student
Where: Panama City and the rural area outside the city with optional side trips to the Panama Canal and the beach
When:  Spring Break 2010 (March 6-13)
Cost: $1,071 + airfare. (Scholarships available at CIE)

The College of Nursing offers International Clinical experience for Junior, Senior and Graduate level nursing students. This intense clinical experience provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves into new cultures while developing and sharpening their clinical nursing skills. The clinical experience includes:  

  • Providing primary health care to underserved populations,
  • Introduction into tropical medicine,
  • Assessing community health needs and providing health care education,
  • Immunizations clinics,
  • One on one interactions with local physicians, nurses and tribal medicine men.

This clinical opportunity serves to increase cultural awareness and competency amongst our nursing students.

Future International Clinical experiences are planned for March 2010 to Lima, Peru. For more information please contact:
